Rod Stryker is one of the most popular and well-respected yoga and meditation teachers in the United States today. Stryker has taught yoga for the past twenty-five years, integrating Tantra and Hatha yoga into his practice. He is known for Anaya-Upaya-Yoga, a style that focuses on personalizing the yoga and meditation experience for each individual. He is the founder of Para Yoga, a unique type of yoga that he created from his experience and expertise in the field of yoga study.
Stryker’s Para Yoga is one of today’s most respected and fastest growing yoga styles. Para means, ancient, highest, the culmination of all effort. It is one of the only forms of yoga that seamlessly utilizes all seven aspects of yoga teachings: pranayama, chanting, meditation, kundalini, mantra, bandha, mudra and asana. It links students of all levels to the tradition, sacred power and spirit of yoga. Para Yoga is based on the Six Gems, ancient teachings that unlock supreme accomplishments in practice and in life. Para Yoga aims to enhance these ageless teachings and apply them to every aspect of modern life.
Stryker began his study of yoga at the age of nineteen. When he was 22 he met his first mentor, Kayi Yogiri Mani Finger, and began an intensive apprenticeship with him. He later studied with Pandit Rajman Tigunait and other leading masters of yoga of the past century including: Paramhamsa Yogananda, Swami Sivananda and Ramana Maharishi. Stryker is one of only a few Westerners to have earned the title, Yogirai, or master of yoga. He is a modern day yogi with a large, international following.
Stryker is a lecturer, author of several books and noted teacher. He leads workshops, trainings sessions and retreats all over the world. He currently serves on the advisory board of Yoga + Joyful Living magazine and is on the Board of Directors of the Himalayan Institute. Stryker lives in Colorado with his wife and two children.
