Anusara means “flowing with Grace,” “going with the flow,” and “following your heart.” Developed by John Friend in 1997, it combines Hatha yoga

with the Tantric philosophy of goodness and the Universal Principals of Alignment. All Anusara teachers are required to follow ethical guidelines which include:
Yamas (behavioral restraints)
Ahimsa (Non-harming)
Satya (Truthfulness)
Astaya (Non-stealing)
Brahmacharya (Walking or having ethical conduct like God)
Aparigraha (Non-clinging)
Niyamas (Internal-restraints)
Shauca (Purity)
Santosa (Contentment)
Tapas (Heat)
Svadhyaya (Study of the Self)
Ishvara Pranidhana (Devotional offering to the Lord)
