Springtime brings budding blooms, warmer weather and the inevitable urge to start slimming down for bathing suit season. Don't worry—there's no need to run and hide until next winter. Here are a few easy steps to help achieve a trimmer, healthier you.—Rebecca Bogle

EXERCISE WITH FRIENDS. Join a class at a gym or at a local yoga or Pilates studio. Make a standing appointment with a friend for a hike every week. It’s much easier to keep up with a routine when friends and familiar faces are there to help inspire and keep you moving.
GET BODYWORK. Just like cars need oil changes, our bodies need regular maintenance. We tend to store unex-
pressed emotion in the body (anger, fear, grief, etc.). These stuck emotions block free-flowing energy in the body. Treatments such as acupuncture, reflexology, Rolfing, and craniosacral therapy help remove these blockages and allow us to stay healthy, trim, and energized.
EAT SEASONALLY. Fresh fruits and veggies are in abundance right now. Treat yourself and your loved ones to a bounty of all the best produce. Have an apple for breakfast and some raw veggies during the day for a snack.
IT’S QUALITY NOT QUANTITY. Eat less but eat well. You don’t need to starve yourself; in fact, not eating causes the body to go into starvation mode and stores fat as soon as food enters the digestive system. Opt for high-quality ingredi-
ents and healthful fare and you’ll feel satisfied without over-
eating.

ONE STEP AT A TIME. Make one small lifestyle change each week. Perhaps it’s drinking sparkling water instead of soda. Or eating fruit for dessert instead of brownies or ice cream. Your body is a temple, but remember that the Taj Mahal wasn’t built overnight. Take one step at a time and make conscious changes to become healthier both inside and out.
